RAMPAGE GETS CHILL IN 7-3 LOSS
Sasha Lakovic figured in five goals, scoring twice and assisting on three others, leading the Columbus Chill to a 7-3 victory over the Roanoke Valley Rampage on Friday night.The loss was Roanoke Valley's 24th straight on the road, extending its East Coast Hockey League record.
Despite an eight-hour bus trip during the day, the Rampage (12-39-1) managed to hang close for nearly two periods. Roanoke Valley trailed 4-3 until Lakovic scored with 18 seconds left in the second period.
The Chill (26-24-4), battling to earn an ECHL playoff berth, put the game on ice in the final period on goals by Lakovic and Steve Strunk.
Pete Speranza, Dean Dorchak and Scott Burfoot scored for the Rampage. Dorchak's goal was his team-leading 35th, while Burfoot, back in the lineup after missing two weeks to injury, netted his 28th of the season.
Roanoke Valley, 1-24-1 on the road, continues its rugged three-game trip through the Western Division tonight in Dayton. The Rampage travels to Toledo on Sunday before returning home.
