OBIT LANCASTER, ETTA MAE LESTER, R.N.
LANCASTER, Etta Mae Lester, R.N., 61, a native of Roanoke, died at her home in Cave Spring, Friday, February 19, 1993 from cancer. She was a registered nurse for 40 years, before retiring in 1990 from Friendship Manor Nursing Home. After retiring, she became a volunteer worker for Red Cross, conducting body recall exercise classes for senior citizens including water exercise classes at Roanoke's YWCA. She was a member of the Cave Spring Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Warren L. Lancaster Sr.; three sons and their wives, Warren L. and Evalena Lancaster Jr., Yuma, Ariz., David L. and Anita Lancaster, Newport News, Glenn L. and Diane Lancaster, Richmond; two daughters and their husbands, Cathy L. and Terry Harless, Williamsburg, Sherry L. and Harry Ward, Roanoke; also surviving is her mother, Virginia Booth Lester, Roanoke; brother, Edward L. Lester, Roanoke; sister, Virginia Lee Webber, Roanoke; nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's South Chapel 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Rolen C. Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's South Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 4235 Colonial Ave., S.W., Roanoke, Va. 24018
