OBIT ROWLAND, LEWIS D.
ROWLAND, Lewis D., 71, of Vinton, died Thursday, February 18, 1993 in a local hospital. He was a member of Waverly Place Baptist Church, an Army veteran of World War II and a retired officer, Reserve Officers Association. He was also a member of Melrose Lodge #139 and Vinton Lodge #204 AF & AM, the Roanoke Consistory of Scottish Rite Bodies, Bayard Commandry #15 K.T., Kazim Shrine Temple, the D.A.V. and the V.F.W. He was retired from the US Postal service and formerly owned and operated Rowland's Detective Agency. Surviving are his wife, Louise Thomas Rowland; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary L. Sr. and Vicky F. Rowland, Vinton; a granddaughter, Helen Rowland Whorley, Vinton; grandsons, Gary L. (Buddy) Rowland Jr., Roanoke, Christopher M. Rowland, Vinton; a great granddaughter, Alexandria Rowland. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 22, 1993 with the Rev. Charles Hoffler officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery with Masonic Rites by Vinton Lodge #204 AF & AM and military honors by V.F.W. Post #1264.
