BEAMER PRESIDENT OF COACHES GROUP

Virginia Tech's Frank Beamer has been elected president of the Big East Football Conference Coaches' Association. John Paquette, the league's public relations director, said Beamer will serve as spokesman for conference coaches in administrative matters. One of Beamer's primary functions will be as spokesman for the coaches in dealings with Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese.
