OBIT SLOAN, EVELYN BROUGHMAN

SLOAN, Evelyn Broughman, 99, of Glasgow, died Saturday, February 27, 1993, in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Mrs. Sloan was born December 6, 1893, in Botetourt County, a daughter of the late Hezekiah Broughman and Cora Clark Broughman. She was a member of the Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren of Buchanan, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William Welsey Sloan. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Betty S. Walker, Glasgow, Va.; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Monday, March 1, 1993, at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Riley and the Rev. William Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the Glasgow First Aid Crew. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
