The event also includes programs for children and a petting zoo.
The day begins with a 5K road race at 8 a.m. and a one-mile dog-walk for dogs and their owners at 9:30 a.m. Both events will begin on Smithfield Plantation Road near the Virginia Tech Duck Pond and will be held rain or shine.

In addition to displays about academic programs and related clubs, a veterinary ophthalmology demonstration will focus on how animal vision compares with human vision.
About 60 posters created by local grade-school children will be displayed.
