OBIT JONES, ALVIN E. SR.
JONES, Alvin E. Sr., 77, of Roanoke, died March 30, 1993. He was a native
of Franklin County and had been a Roanoke resident most of his life. Mr. Jones
retired from General Electric, where he worked in the Apparatus Service Shop
for 25 years. He was also a Navy World War II veteran. He is survived by his
wife, Callie Irene Jones; one son and daughter-in-law, Alvin E. Jones Jr. and
Debbie Dudding Jones, both of Salem; a brother, George W. Jones, Roanoke; two
sisters, Theora Sigmon, Bluewells, W.Va., Dorothy Puckett, Norfolk; close and
faithful friends, Homer and Harriett Duke, Salem; grandchildren, Travis Jones,
Chris Dudding, and Jason Dudding, all of Salem. Funeral services will be held
11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel by the Rev. Andrew Robinson and Rev.
Harry M. Miller Jr. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family
will receive friends Thursday night 7 to 9. John M. Oakey & Son in Salem is in
charge of arrangements.
