KANODE, Josephine B., 57, of Chase City, Va., passed away Thursday, April
1, 1993, in the Virginia Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg. She was born June 27,
1935, in Wythe County, a daughter of Lillie Alfred Bennett and the late Dallas
Ford Bennett Sr. She was a registered nurse at Richeson Drive Pediatrics, was
a member of the Mecklenburg County Lioness Club and was a member of the First
Assembly of God. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband,
Kenneth Lee, Kanode; a daughter, Karen K. Beck, Lynchburg; a son, Kenneth Lee
Kanode Jr., Thaxton; one sister, Ruby Agee, Christiansburg; three brothers,
Herbert Bennett, Christiansburg, Dan Bennett, Bunnell, Fla., Rev. Dallas
Bennett Jr., Bedford; two granddaughters, Niki Beck, Lynchburg, April Kanode,
Thaxton; and one grandson, Kody Kanode, Thaxton. Funeral services will be
conducted Saturday, April 3, 1993, at noon from the Christian Life Ministries
Church, by the Rev. Dallas Bennett, Rev. Mike Dodson, and Rev. Bob Jordan.
Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive
friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Christian Life Ministries Church, Blue
Ridge Avenue, Bedford. The family requests that those wishing to make
memorials should consider the Leukemia Society. Arrangements are being handled
by Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.
