JEWISH GROUPS SEND KOSHER FOODS ABROAD
With Passover beginning Monday, several Jewish organizations have shipped matzohs and other kosher foods for the occasion to Jewish communities in hard-pressed areas, many in the former Soviet Union.Nearly three tons of Passover supplies were sent by the Appeal of Conscience Foundation, in cooperation with Park East Synagogue, which also sent supplies to Cuba.
The Joint Distribution Committee, the chief Jewish relief agency, sent Passover provisions to 40 cities in the former Soviet Union as well as to Egypt, Romania, Poland, former Yugoslavia, Albania, Tunisia and Bulgaria.
