BALD EAGLE POPULATION TOPIC OF E&H LECTURE
The bald eagle population in Virginia's Chesapeake Bay area will be the lecture topic at 8 p.m. April 15 at Emory & Henry College by Mitchell Byrd, professor of biology at the College of William and Mary. That population recently has started to recover from a severe decline, but Byrd feels that uncontrolled land-use practices still threaten the birds.
Byrd holds a bachelor's, a master's and a doctorate degree from Virginia Tech and an endowed chair at William and Mary, where he has taught since 1956.
