OBIT ROCK, DR. GEORGE CALVERT
ROCK, Dr. George Calvert, 58, of Raleigh, N.C., and formerly of Roanoke, died Saturday, April 3, 1993, in a local hospital. He was predeceased by his father, Ryland F. Rock. Dr. Rock had earned his doctorate at Cornell University, and was a professor of Entomology at North Carolina State University. Survivors include his mother, Margaret V. Rock, Roanoke; a brother, Ryland F. Rock Jr., Winston-Salem, N.C.; and a sister, Sylvia Surena Evans, De Graff, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel 1 p.m. Tuesday with Dr. Ray Board officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel.
