OBIT PARSON, ESSIE D.

PARSON, Essie D. ,84, of Hackley Avenue N.W., Roanoke, died Saturday, April 3, 1993. Born in Berkley, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Nelson and Jean Doughtery. She was of long time resident of Mercer County, W.Va., where she was a member and one of the pillars of the St. Matthews United Holiness Church of Bluefield, W.Va. In her later years, she returned to Roanoke where she was a member of the Community Church of Holiness. While there she served in the capacity of mother of the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Elbert Parson. Survivors include one son, Elder Leroy Parson of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Leroy C.(Theresa) Parson Jr., Dianne Boyd of Roanoke, James (Camilla) Boyd of Indiana,and Sharon Boyd of Fairlawn; seven great-grandchildren, and devoted friend, Dorothy Jean Brown of Roanoke. Funeral services will be held Thursday 2 p.m. at the Miracle Chapel United Holiness Church, 1110 22nd St NW. Elder Arnold Jones will be officiating, with interment at Williams Memorial Park. The procession will assemble at 352 McDowell Ave NW. The family will receive friends Wednesday 7 until 8 p.m. at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.
