INTERMONT WILL HONOR EX-PRESIDENT

The Virginia Intermont College student center will be named for President Emeritus Floyd V. Turner during an April 17 ceremony.

Turner was the 11th president of the college, from 1956 until 1979. Changes during that time included expanding the college to a four-year, coeducational institution as well as the construction of five major buildings including the center.

"It is certainly fitting and proper that the first building constructed, the student center, should be named in his honor," said Gary Poulton, the current president.
