OBIT SLAYDON, ROBERT EDWARD
SLAYDON, Robert Edward ("Toby"), 73, of Roanoke, passed away suddenly
Thursday, April 8, 1993, at his home. He was retired from Appalachian Power
Company, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon,
and on the church board of ushers, and was a member of the Hunt Bible Class.
He served as Past Master of Lakeland and Cave Spring Masonic Lodges, and was
presently serving as Chaplain of the Cave Spring Lodge. He was Past Potentate
of Kazim Temple, Past District Deputy Grand Master, and Past Director of the
Royal Order of Jesters. Surviving are his wife, Blanche Wright Slaydon; two
sisters, Mrs. Francis (Margaret) Shockey, Copper Hill, Mrs. J. H. (Elsie)
King, Roanoke; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wiley and Nell Abbott, Roanoke,
Bobby and Patsy Camper, Troutville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral
services will be conducted at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, noon Saturday, April 10,
by the Rev. Dennis Herman and Dr. Harry Y. Gamble. Masonic service will be
conducted by Lakeland Masonic Lodge. Burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. and
7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
