OBIT SHUFFLEBARGER, ELIZABETH STARKS
SHUFFLEBARGER, Elizabeth Starks, 95, of Bastian, died Friday, April 9, 1993, at George B. Kegley Manor in Bastian. Elizabeth was the widow of Dave Newton Shufflebarger, former merchant in Bastian, Va. She was the daughter of the late William Johnson and Elvira Starks Bruce of Bastian. She was a Disciple of Christ and a member of Bastian Union Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and choir member for many years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Daniel P. (Zareda) Earnest, Jr. of Bastian, Va., Dr. Alma E. Shufflebarger of Bastian and Oakland City, Indiana; one son, Carlton Bruce Shufflebarger of Bastian, Va.; one brother, Guy M. Bruce of Bastian, Va.; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; eleven nieces and four nephews. Friends may call at Bastian Union Church Sunday, April 11, from 6 to 9 in the evening. The funeral services, under the direction of Newberry Funeral Home, will be Monday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at the Bastian Union Church. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bastian. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Bland County Volunteer Rescue Squad, Route 1, Box 75, Bastian, Va. 24314.
