FOOTBALL-EX-BOBCAT SHINES IN TECH SCRIMMAGE
Former Radford High School star Tommy Edwards continued a productive spring practice for Virginia Tech by running for 81 yards and scoring two goal-line touchdowns in the Hokies' scrimmage in Blacksburg.It was Tech's last scrimmage before its spring game, 7 p.m. Saturday at Lane Stadium.
Quarterback Maurice DeShazo completed nine of 18 passes for 108 yards, and ran 27 yards for a touchdown. Reserve quarterback Jim Druckenmiller was 7-of-18 for 115 yards, including a 41-yard scoring pass to backup tight end Steve Roberts. Fullback Rafael Williams had 58 yards and tailback Dwayne Thomas 24. Defensive end Hank Coleman returned an interception 12 yards for a touchdown, and linebacker Ben Scott had an interception and a sack.
