CAVS TAP CO-CAPTAINS
Virginia, which holds its spring football game Saturday in Charlottesville, announced Thursday its four co-captains for the 1993 season.Selected in a vote of the players were offensive guard Mark Dixon, safety Keith Lyle, cornerback Greg McLellan and tailback Jerrod Washington. All will be in their fifth year with the UVa program.
Dixon has started games in each of three seasons, although he had two back operations in 1991-92. Lyle and McLellan are two-year starters, while Washington was the understudy to ACC rushing leader Terry Kirby in 1992.
The spring game will start at 1 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.
In other regional football:
Tyrone Dixon and Pete Russell have been named assistant football coaches at James Madison University, the school said. Dixon, who coached wide receivers at Temple last season, will handle the same position at James Madison. Russell will coach tight ends.
