ITALIANS VOTE FOR REFORM IN LANDSLIDE REFERENDUM

Seeking to cast off a political system that produced corruption and political gridlock, Italians voted by a landslide for electoral reform, results showed Monday.

The landslide referendum vote paves the way for sweeping electoral reforms and the fall of yet another government, Italy's 51st since World War II. It climaxed 14 months of revelations that have shaken the country since prosecutors began uncovering systematic corruption reaching the highest levels of politics and finance. - Associated Press
