TEENS NEED TO LEARN MORAL TRUTHS

IN A RECENT article in the Roanoke Times & World-News, Kathryn Haynie, president of Planned Parenthood, strongly objected to a sex curriculum that is abstinence based. In voicing her objection, Haynie is quoted as saying, "This program is straight out of the religious right. They use fear, sexual stereotypes and religious morality to discourage teen-agers from having sex."

I would like to ask Haynie what acceptable alternative she has to offer. Since the institution of the current curriculum, the teen-pregnancy rate has nearly tripled. Sexually transmitted diseases are on the rise and abortions among teen-agers have increased.

Haynie and others who share her views need to understand that you cannot separate God and country. Until America returns to the moral truths of God's word, we will continue to have the problems that exist among teen-agers today. KENNETH DAVIS JR. NEW CASTLE
