CHARGES CERTIFIED IN TROOPER SLAYING

Charges against two men arrested in the Feb. 24 slaying of a Virginia state trooper were sent to a grand jury Wednesday.

Lonnie Weeks Jr., 20, of Fayetteville, N.C., is charged with capital murder; and his uncle, Louis Jefferson Dukes Jr., 21, of Washington, D.C., is charged with first-degree murder.

Prince William County General District Judge LeRoy Millette Jr. ruled there was enough evidence against the men for a Circuit Court grand jury to consider indictments. The grand jury will hear the case May 3.

Jose M. Cavazos was shot five times after he stopped a car for speeding on Interstate 95.
