TEACHER FACING CLAIM OF RACIAL SLUR RESIGNS

Lari Scruggs, the Franklin County High School teacher accused of uttering a racial slur, has resigned from the school system.

Scruggs, a math teacher, submitted her resignation March 19. The School Board accepted the resignation Monday without comment.

Scruggs' last day as a teacher at Franklin County High School will be June 12. That means that at the end of this school year both teachers involved in the racial controversy at the high school will have left.

Nadine Keen, the teacher who reported Scruggs' alleged slur, has said she plans to leave the system at the end of the school year.

Scruggs has denied the allegation.
