DARYL GATES TO DEBATE WITH ACLU CHIEF AT W&L

Daryl Gates, former Los Angeles police chief, and Nadine Strossen, professor of law at New York Law School and president of the American Civil Liberties Union, will debate "Law and Order and the LA Riots" April 29 at Washington and Lee University. The public is invited.

The debate, which will be held in Lee Chapel at 8 p.m., will mark the first anniversary of the original Rodney King verdict and the outbreak of violence that followed.

It is sponsored by the W&L chapter of the ACLU, the Federalist Society and the Black Law Student Association.

A reception will follow in the Fairfax Lounge of the University Center.
