OBIT BOONE, C. CLEM

BOONE, C. Clem, 89, of Radford, died Wednesday, April 21, 1993, in Radford Community Hospital. He was born in Caroline, S.C., on March 23, 1904. Clem was a member of the original football team of Kings Mountain High School in North Carolina, graduating in 1921 and attending Rutherford Junior College in Hendersonville, N.C. He was employed in textiles until his retirement from Burlington Industries in Radford in 1965. He then served as manager of Round Meadow Country Club in Christiansburg. He was a member of various singing quartets, sports clubs, and Lions Club. He was also a member of Radford Presbyterian Church. He was the son of the late George and Annie Boone and was preceded in death by his sisters, Ella, Mary, and Lilly. He has been married to Lucy Hughes Boone since 1924. In addition to his wife, other survivors include one son, George C. Boone II of Radford; one daughter and son-in-law, Janelle B. and H. G. Stubbs II of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandsons, Hall G. Stubbs III of Phoenix, Ariz., Micheal J. Stubbs of San Diego, Calif.; one great-grandson of San Diego, Calif.; one granddaughter, Kathy-Jo Turner; one grandson-in-law and his "buddy", Michael L. Turner and three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan and Jordan Turner, all of Radford. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. George Ducker officiating. A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain, N.C. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Clem requested donations be made to the VA Tech Athletic Association and Scholarship Fund, Radford Presbyterian Church, or a favorite charity.
