FUEL ODOR SOURCE SOUGHT IN WYTHEVILLE

Wytheville officials are investigating a gasoline odor reported on East Main Street between First and 11th streets.

The town has contacted the Virginia Environmental Quality Department for testing and evaluation of the problem.

The state has contracted with Bane, Palmer & Associates Inc., environmental consultants of Greensboro, N.C., to make a preliminary survey of the problem by making tests along Main Street to pinpoint the source.

People noticing gasoline odor are asked the contact Alberty Newberry, the town's public safety director, at 228-3111, or the Virginia Environmental Quality Department at 676-5507.
