It will open with a talk by Allen Bergman, deputy director of the governmental affairs office of the United Cerebral Palsy Association of America. He is the parent of a young women with special needs, and has more than 20 years of experience as a service provider and as an advocate on behalf of people with disabilities.
The sessions are planned to provide information about what family-support services are available in Virginia, gather information from people with disabilities and families on support services, and start a statewide movement toward more helpful policies for families of people with disabilities.
