WATER FILTRATION PLANT TO HOLD OPEN HOUSE

To observe National Drinking Water Week, the water filtration plant on Virginia 114 near Prices Fork Road will hold an open house May 2, 1-5 p.m. The plant is operated by the Blacksburg-Christiansburg-VPI Water Authority.

Created by the two towns and the university in 1954, the water authority was the first of its kind in Virginia. The plant handles 12 million gallons of water per day from the New River to supply both towns and Virginia Tech.

There will be refreshments and handouts. For more information, call Jerry Higgins at 639-2575.
