OBIT BOWMAN, KIMBERLY JR.
BOWMAN, Kimberly Jr., 49, of Alviso, Calif., died Monday, April 19, 1993.
He was born in Washington, D. C., the son of Josephine Bowman Shapiro,
Bedford, and the late Kimberly Bowman Sr. He was a graduate of Guilford
College and a Marine Corp veteran who served two tours of duty in Vietnam
where he was awarded two purple hearts. In addition to his mother, survivors
include one son, Kimberly Bowman III; two daughters, Kelly Bowman and Brynja
Bowman, all of San Jose, Calif.; one sister, Jocelyn Bowman Safrit; and two
nieces, Carrie Safrit, Lee Safrit of Burlington, N. C.; and two aunts, Betty
Christmas and Dr. Nan Preas of Eden, N. C. The family will receive friends
from 10 to 12 noon on Sunday at the home of his mother, 1703 Kingston Circle,
Bedford. Graveside military rites will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday in the
Longwood Cemetery with the Rev. Michael P. Cogsdale, cousin of the deceased,
officiating. Arrangements by Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford. Memorial
tributes may be made to any chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
