GILES TOPS BLACKSBURG 6-3 IN BASEBALL

At Blacksburg, Shannon Pyles hit a home run and Jason Dunn struck out eight as Giles downed Blacksburg 6-3 in baseball. For the Indians, Brian Davis hit a homer and a double, and starter Wayne Caldwell struck out 12.

\ SOFTBALL: At Martinsville, Elaine Ronquillo and Wendy Murdock combined for nine hits and nine runs scored as Roanoke Catholic wiped out Carlisle 24-5. Ronquillo had two doubles and a triple and Murdock belted a double. Lauren Phelan pitched the victory.
