SACKS GETS RIDE FOR TALLADEGA

Bobby Hamilton has been released as the driver of the Tri Star Motorsports Ford Thunderbird and will be replaced by Greg Sacks for the Winston 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on May 2, sources close to the team confirmed Monday.

An official announcement is expected today. Sacks has a guaranteed ride in the car only for Talladega, sources said.

After winning rookie of the year in 1991, Hamilton had a disappointing year last year and continued to struggle in 1993, with no top-10 finishes and a lowly 31st-place standing in Winston Cup points.

He finished 33rd in the 34-car field at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday.
