BYRD WINS 2 OVER PATRIOTS IN SOFTBALL

At William Byrd, Deanna Aldrich had five hits and scored five runs in the Terriers' doubleheader softball sweep of Patrick Henry. William Byrd won the first game 16-3 as Chastity Vandergrift went 3-for-3 with two RBI and Mandy McCulloch had two hits and two runs scored. In the second game, Ashley McCallum had two RBI and two runs scored as Byrd won 11-1.

At Daleville, Janelle Sowers pitched a two-hit shutout, striking out 11, to lead Lord Botetourt past James River 3-0.

At Martinsville, Elaine Ronquillo and Wendy Murdock combined for nine hits and nine runs scored as Roanoke Catholic wiped out Carlisle 24-5.

\ BOYS' SOCCER: At Salem, Andy McCaskill scored two goals, including the game-winner with 12 minutes remaining, as William Byrd edged Salem 3-2.

At Waynesboro, A.J. Esguerra scored his second goal with 12 minutes left in the game to give North Cross a 3-2 win over Fishburne Military.

\ GIRLS' SOCCER: At North Cross, Andrea Jones scored off a corner kick from Heather Moore with two minutes left in overtime as Salem got past North Cross 1-0.

\ BOYS' TENNIS: At Northside, senior Jeremy Graybill won his 28th straight match over the past two years, leading the Vikings to a 6-3 win over Lord Botetourt in a Blue Ridge District match. Junior Jake Gilliland remained unbeaten at No. 1 singles for the Cavaliers.
