3 VALLEY WOMEN IN ROANOKE PAGEANT

Three New River Valley women will be among the 12 competing Saturday in the Miss Roanoke Valley Festival pageant at Cave Spring High School.

The program starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $7 in advance or $10 at the door.

This is the first year Roanoke has opened its program to participants outside the Roanoke Valley. The pageant, sponsored by the Roanoke Valley Educational Scholarship Board, is a preliminary to the Miss Virginia Pageant in July.

Contestants are:

Traci L. Basham, 19, of Roanoke; daughter of Hilda P. Basham and Joseph C. Basham; a student at Virginia Western Community College; vocal presentation.

Stacy A. Bell, 18, of Roanoke; daughter of Michael and Donna Bell; Virginia Western Community College; sing and dance.

Mary W. Gardner, 20, of Martinsville; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Woodson S. Gardner; Hollins College; vocal presentation.

Nancy K. Gibson, 23, of Radford; daughter of Sonny and Nancy Gibson; a graduate of the American Institute of Paralegals; vocal presentation.

Tracy M. Lippard, 22, of Newport News; daughter of Dr. Hal and Leta Lippard; Christopher Newport University; vocal presentation.

Whitney R. Lonker, 21, of Vinton; daughter of Stephen and Joanne Lonker; West Virginia University; play the piano.

Shannon R. Obenchain, 18, of Christiansburg; daughter of Steve and Cindy Obenchain; Radford University; vocal presentation.

Jodi E. Skurupey, 19, of Blacksburg; daughter of Fred and Arlene Skurupey; New River Community College; sing and dance.

Heather M. Smith, 20, of Mineral; daughter of Mary L. Smith; Piedmont Community College; jazz dance.

Brandi N. Vernamonti, 17, of Troutville; daughter of Bruce and Wanda Roy and the late Dennis Vernamonti; senior at Lord Botetourt High School; lyrical dance.

Amanda R. Weeks, 21, of Richmond; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Weeks; Commonwealth College; contemporary gospel song.

Kimberly A. Wray, 21, of Roanoke; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne E. Wray; a graduate of Radford University; piano composition.
