INFORMATION ON STATE PARKS AVAILABLE

Virginians can call a toll-free telephone number to receive free publications about Virginia state parks. Callers receive a free, color general information booklet along with 1993 reservation and fees guide.

"A recent survey showed that 40 percent of people who had not visited a Virginia state park said they did not have enough information about state parks," said J. Robert Hicks Jr., director of the Department of Conservation and Recreation, which manages the state parks.

The toll-free number (800) 866-9222 is answered 24 hours per day, seven days a week.
