Lacy is receiving the scholarship through Virginia Tech and was chosen for academic excellence and demonstrated interest in wildlife preservation, natural resources conservation or environmental studies. She is a graduate of Blacksburg High School and daughter of George and Ruth Lacy.
The YMCA student programs held its annual recognition banquet in April. Virginia Tech students MOIRA FLANAGAN, GINA HALL, SONYA JERRETT, JOHN RICHMOND and MIKE ROSENZWEIG were chosen to become part of the Gold Triangle Fellowship, an organization unique to the Virginia Tech YMCA for people who have given outstanding service to the YMCA.
\ TONY HARRISON, a volunteer with the YMCA after-school program, received the Emily Stuart Award for outstanding volunteerism. SUE VOELKEL, a program leader for the alternative spring break and Ecocycle, was chosen as one of 26 gold medal winners for the Governor's Award for Volunteering Excellence.
\ GINA HALL and AAROL GOLUB received awards from the regional YMCA for distinguished leadership. EMILY CHRISTENSEN was selected outstanding new member of the year, and CHERYL DUTY was chosen as outstanding student leader of the year.

\ AMY COATES and KARA HOFFERT are recipients of the Virginia Tech Faculty Women's Club scholarships.
\ BRIAN BECKER of Christiansburg received his master's degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech. He is a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and Eta Kappy Nu Electrical Engineering Honor Society. He also received a bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech.
\ GRACE BAUER, GREG JUSTICE and LARRY NIELSEN have won the 1993 Diggs Teaching Scholar Awards at Virginia Tech.
Bauer, an instructor in the English department, teaches in the women's studies program. She has devised a combination of teaching approaches involving gender analysis and creative work in various genres.
Justice is an associate professor of theater arts. He is known for his strong commitment to improving the skills of other teachers.
Nielsen is the head of the department of fisheries and wildlife sciences. He received praise and high student evaluations for creative, stimulating and enthusiastic teaching in 11 courses from freshmen level to advanced graduate studies.
The awards recognize outstanding contributions to the university's teaching program. Each recipient gets a $500 grant and his or her department receives a matching grant.
\ PATRICIA K. EDWARDS, assistant dean for research administration in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies since 1989, has been named interim dean of the college until a permanent replacement for CHARLES W. STEGER is named. The search is expected to begin in August. Steger was named vice president for development and university relations.
