OBIT-CARTER, OSSIE HOLDREN

CARTER, Ossie Holdren, 89, of Burks Hill Road, Bedford, died Thursday, May 13, 1993 in a local nursing home. She was born in Bedford County on September 13, 1903, a daughter of the late Charles Christopher Holdren and Emma Cornelia Holland Holdren. She was the widow of Onnie Colbert Carter, and was a member of Bedford Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Sara C. Oliver, Bedford; two granddaughters, Sherry Oliver Eales, Roanoke, and Sue Oliver Kell, Charlottesville; also six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, May 15, 1993 at 2 p.m. at Bedford Baptist Church with Dr. Woodrow W. Clark officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bedford Baptist Church Memorial Fund. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home following the service in the church parlor, and other times at the daughter's residence on Mountain View Drive. Arrangements are being handled by Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
