CANNONS CONTAIN BUCS 3-1

Sean Twitty went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI as the Prince William Cannons defeated the Salem Buccaneers 3-1 in a Carolina League baseball game Friday night.

Jorge Posada started Prince William's scoring when he walked and stole second base in the fourth inning. He scored the Cannons' first run when Twitty doubled off the wall in left field. Twitty scored when Salem pitcher Mariano De Los Santos (3-2) uncorked two wild pitches.

Buccaneer Keith Thomas blasted a solo homer to center field in the top of the fifth to pull Salem (16-17) to 2-1.

Prince William (15-18) sealed the victory when Tim Flannelly singled home Jovino Carvajal in the fifth.

Joe Ronca had two hits for the Buccaneers. The series will continue tonight at 7:30 at Prince William County Stadium. \
