WESLEYAN TRUSTEES OK 9% TUITION RAISE

The board of trustees at Virginia Wesleyan College agreed Wednesday to raise tuition 9.1 percent this fall.

The increase will boost tuition at the Methodist-affiliated school to $10,150, up from $9,300. Resident students will pay $4,800 for room and board, an increase of 3.2 percent from $4,650 this year.

The total budget next year will be $17.4 million, a 9.8 percent increase over this year's budget of $15.8 million. Tuition will provide 72 percent of the budget.
