Officer Matthew Hockman, who investigated the 7:10 a.m. accident, said students complained of minor neck and back injuries. They were taken to hospitals.
About 20 students from Thompson Middle School were on the bus.
The driver of the car, Melvin Briggs Jr. of Richmond, was making a left turn and crossed into the path of the bus, Hockman said. Briggs, 26, was charged with reckless driving.
