OBIT HODGES, MARY JESSUP

HODGES, Mary Jessup, 97, of Galax, died Wednesday, May 19, 1993, in the Waddell Nursing Home. She was formerly of Patrick County, Va. She was born April 23, 1896 in Forsyth County, N.C. to William McKinley (Mack) Jessup and Letitia Simmons Jessup. Mrs. Hodges was predeceased by her husband, Edward Foster Hodges in 1964 and a daughter, Mary Evelyn in 1923. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Virginia Hodges, Vinton; two granddaughters and husband, Ruth Zein, Chevy Chase, Md., Jane and Gene Kotulka, Fredericksburg, Va., a grandson and wife, Jim Jr. and Nan Hodges, Waynesboro; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Cartlin Hodges and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel, Stuart, Friday, May 21, 1993, at 11 a.m. with burial in the Critz Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev Fred Gilley will have the service. The family will receive friends at the Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, Thursday night from 7 to 9. Flowers will be appreciated or donations to the Critz Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, if desired.
