Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company and drivin' and cryin' will present a ``Rock N' Roll Triple Shot'' on Tuesday night at 7 at the Roanoke Civic Center. The music will cover the Southern rock, rock 'n' roll and progressive rock genres.

Tickets are $18.50 in advance from the civic center box office and TicketMaster locations.

\ HOOFIN' AND WOOFIN': Our furry friends encounter misfortune from time to time with no one to turn to but us. Help them Saturday by participating in the SPCA's annual Walk for the Animals. It begins at 10 a.m. at Victory Stadium, and proceeds a mere three miles, to Wasena Park and back via Wiley Drive. Dogs are welcome. \ DIFFERENT STROKES: Forty-two artists from the Blue Ridge region will show their stuff starting this evening at 5 at the Roanoke City Art Show of the Arts Council of the Blue Ridge. It will be in the first floor gallery of the Art Museum of Western Virginia in Roanoke's Center in the Square. Craft artists also are represented in numbers this year, along with photographers, painters and sculptors. Tonight's events are a reception and awards ceremony. Call 342-5790 for details.

\ GO, JOHNNY, GO: More than 100 contestants have entered the second Bedford Main Street Kart Race set for Saturday. The drivers are expected to run the Centertown Bedford course at 40 to 70 miles per hour. The pits will open at 11 a.m. Qualifying runs will be between 12:30 and 2:45 p.m., and the racing will start at 3 p.m. Rain date is May 29. For more information, call 586-2148.

\ HIGH AND LONESOME: Woodstock '93, Bluegrass Style is the name of the festival under way at the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds in Woodstock. The Eddie Adcock Band is serving as host. Performers include Mac Wiseman, the Lynn Morris Band and the Reno Brothers. Arts and crafts and children's games and rides also will be parts of the picture. The festival will go on whatever the weather. Children under 12 get in free. Call 465-5953 for details. Woodstock is off exit 283 of I-81 north from Roanoke.

\ FRENCH WALTZ: That's what those dancers are doing in Franz Lehar's operetta, ``The Merry Widow,'' the latest production from Opera Roanoke. Saturday night's performance is sold out, but tickets remain for Monday and Wednesday nights. The music begins at 8 in Olin Theater of Roanoke College in Salem. Victoria Bond conducts.
