OHIO STATE RUNNER PLANS TO COMPETE DESPITE COLLAPSE

Ohio State sprinter Chris Nelloms was released from a hospital Friday and said he plans on running in the Big Ten track and field championships at Michigan State today.

Nelloms, the Big Ten and NCAA 200 meters champion indoors, collapsed Thursday after a brief warmup at Ohio Stadium.

He underwent tests, including a stress exam, Friday morning at Ohio State University Hospitals, said spokeswoman Liz Cook. She said she did not know the test results but said the doctors felt they were acceptable.

Nelloms left the hospital with coach Russ Rogers on Friday afternoon to drive to East Lansing, Mich. He was scheduled to participate in the 100, 200 and 400 meters and a relay at the Big Ten meet.

"I definitely plan on competing," Nelloms said. "I know in my heart I can run. I think the test confirmed for coach Rogers that it would be OK for me to run."
