REPORTER SHOULD HAVE CHECKED FACTS

IN REGARD to the April 24 news story on the dumping of a stillborn baby in Roanoke ("Dumping of baby's body charged"):

Perhaps if reporter Leigh Allen had checked the facts, he would have found that all students in the Roanoke Memorial School of Practical Nursing are required to have the same texts on maternity nursing and nutrition. His inclusion of these books in the list of items found by police in Ms. Cochran's room is misleading. Possession of these books is unrelated to the facts in this sad story, and it bears no significance on Ms. Cochran's case. DAVID F. LYNCH ROANOKE
