TAX-AND-SPEND IN ROANOKE COUNTY

ANOTHER tax on most county property owners ($5 sewer tax) to facilitate the involuntarily taking of money from the pockets of the majority and giving it to a small special-interest group.

Clinton's D.C. clan should come here to Roanoke County and take lessons from our leaders on "how to do pork" and how to "tax and spend with impunity," e.g., millions on a county landfill, which incidentally is upstream from another multimillion-dollar project and our drinking water - Elmer's Spring Hollow Sink Hole.

The D.C. clan could also learn how to circumvent the voters' decision on an issue. E.g., county residents voted down spending of millions to build an administrative complex a few years ago, only to have the supervisors recently spend several million dollars (without taxpayers' input) to purchase Elmer's Travelers Taj Mahal for an administrative complex.

At the rate they've been spending and taxing (all for can't-do-without causes, they say), it won't be long before only the rich will be able to afford to live in the county and the rest of us will be forced to eat beans. And they'll surely find a way to tax them, too! DON DYE ROANOKE COUNTY
