OBIT MITCHELL, WILLIAM EARL SR.
MITCHELL, William Earl Sr., 65, of Sylvatus, passed away Saturday evening,
May 22, 1993, at his family home place in Sylvatus. He was born on July 24,
1927, in the Mitchell's Crossroads Community of Carroll County to the late
Henry Roscoe Mitchell and Eliza Milam Mitchell. He was a retired cryptologic
analyst from the United States Navy, with twenty years of service, and most
recently retired from the Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Board. In
retirement, he devoted his time to the Rooftop of Virginia Carroll Center
Headstart Children. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #1115. He was a
devoted, loving husband, father and brother. He is survived by his wife, June
Smith Mitchell; a daughter, Melanie Kaye Mitchell of Hillsville, a daughter
and son-in-law, Kimberly and Michael Quesenberry of Galax; a son, William E.
Mitchell Jr. of Sylvatus; and a sister, Vicki Mitchell Cooper of Hillsville.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 25, 1993, at 11 a.m. at the Dinwiddie
Presbyterian Church, Mitchell's Crossroads, Va., with the Rev. Sam Austin and
the Rev. Levi Humphreys officiating. Interment will follow in the church
cemetery with military rites conducted by the Hillsville V.F.W. Post #1115.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, May 24, 1993, from 7 to 9 at
the funeral home and at anytime at the family home. Arrangements by
