DICKENSON DESERVES HONORABLE DISCHARGE

THE MAY 22 news story ("Dishonored vet fights to clear 40-year-old `lie' ") about Edward Dickenson, a Korean POW, brings back memories.

I knew him as a young boy. Dickenson's parents were Christians who took their children to church. His family was poor, but they were a loving family. He had brothers who served in World War II. Dickenson didn't try to dodge the draft and willingly went to Korea. It seems he was singled out by the Chinese, and their goal was to turn his fellow soldiers against him.

He is a hero and deserves an honorable discharge. Look at what he had to endure at the hands of the Chinese.

To Dickenson, this is not a case out of history. He and his family are still stuffering.
