IBM PLANS TO PUBLISH NEW 80-PAGE CATALOG

Eager to keep pace in the ever-changing marketplace for personal computers, International Business Machines Corp. on Tuesday announced its biggest move yet into mail-order sales.

An 80-page catalog, titled the Supersource Book, will be mailed to more than 1.3 million customers in the next month. It is IBM's fourth catalog, but by far the most serious threat to PC retailers who are struggling with shrinking profit margins.

Apple Computer Inc., Compaq Computer Corp., Dell Computer Corp. and Digital Equipment Corp. also publish catalogs.
