TAR HEELS' WILLIAMS HEADS TEAM

Donald Williams, a member of North Carolina's national championship basketball team, heads a 12-player roster for the USA Men's World University Games team announced Wednesday in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Williams, a 6-foot-2 guard, joins two other Final Four stars, Kentucky guard Travis Ford and Kansas forward Richard Scott.

The others selected by USA Basketball were Michael Finley of Wisconsin, Antonio Lang of Duke, Ed O'Bannon of UCLA, Eric Piatkowski of Nebraska, Shawn Respert of Michigan State, Carlos Rogers of Tennessee State, Damon Stoudamire of Arizona, Jeff Webster of Oklahoma and Sharone Wright of Clemson.

Junior Burrough of Virginia and Lawrence Moten of Syracuse were chosen as alternates.

Air Force Academy coach Reggie Minton will be the head coach and will be assisted by Rod Baker of Cal-Irvine, Jim Harrick of UCLA and Bob Huggins of Cincinnati.

The World University Games men's basketball competition will be held July 8-17 in Buffalo, N.Y. The U.S. squad, which has won 12 consecutive World University Games contests, will be looking for its third consecutive gold medal.
