DEPUTY UNDER INVESTIGATION LEAVES FORCE

The Pulaski County deputy who is being investigated in connection with $18,000 missing from a Pulaski County Lifesaving Crew account is resigning for medical reasons.

Edward A. Campbell's resignation from the department where he has worked for 11 years is effective today.

He has been on medical leave since the discovery last April that the crew, of which he had been captain, had a shortage in its bank accounts. That shortage is being investigated by state police.

The county Board of Supervisors appropriated $15,000 to cover the organization's debts. No charges have been filed.
