A Shawsville woman was confronted Tuesday evening in the Market Place parking lot on North Franklin Street by a man who bumped her against the trunk of her car and then grabbed her purse.
The woman, 35, chased her assailant across the parking lot and grabbed her purse back. The man ran away.
Police said the woman was attacked about 7:20 p.m. while unloading her cart after shopping in Wal-Mart and the Dollar Tree.
Police admired her pluck, and the detailed description she was able to give of the young man who accosted her.
She described the man as about 6-feet-tall, 150 to 160 pounds, with short brown hair and a slight beard growth on his chin.
She told police the young man was wearing long shorts, a white shirt with stripes on the sleeves, black and red tennis shoes and a woven red, black and purple bracelet on his left wrist.
Lt. Doug Marrs asked that anyone who might have seen the incident or have information that might lead to the man call the Christiansburg Police Department at 382-3131.
