TOP HEALTH OFFICIAL CONFIRMED BY SENATE

The Senate confirmed Dr. Philip R. Lee, a prominent medical educator and Medicare expert, as the nation's chief health officer Thursday.

Lee was approved by voice vote to be assistant secretary for health in the Department of Health and Human Services. He will oversee the Public Health Service, the Food and Drug Administration and National Institutes of Health. - Associated Press
