in a Washington, D.C. hospital. She was born in Natural Bridge, Va. on May 2,
1914, the oldest child of the late George W. and Josephine S. Diamond. She
received her early education in the public schools in Natural Bridge. At an
early age, she was baptized and fellowshipped into the First Baptist Church of

she retained membership in her home church. In keeping with her covenant, in
1986 she joined the Canaan Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. under watchful
care where the Rev. Cornelius Carter Jr. is the pastor. She was loved and
respected by the officers and members of Canaan; however, the Sanctuary Choir
was a favorite group, whom she loved dearly and most of them referred to her
as "Mama". Mrs. McKissick pursued a career in the Federal Government and
worked for thirty five years, retiring in 1975. She received many awards for
faithful and dedicated service. She enjoyed her retirement by traveling and
being in the comfort of her children. Mourning her passing is her husband,
